Research published by the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) suggests that men and women deal with stress in different ways. Because of this difference in coping, men and women can experience different health issues as a result of stress. These health issues can pose a real threat, and thus it is important to minimize stressors. However, in a society focused on end results and productivity, avoiding stressors is not likely. Fortunately, there are natural ways to help manage the strain.
UPenn researchers state that “In men, it was found that stress was associated with increased CBF in the right prefrontal cortex and CBF reduction in the left orbitofrontal cortex. In women, the limbic system – a part of the brain primarily involved in emotion – was activated when they were under stress.” Fancy talk, right? What the researchers found is that men respond to stress using one part of the brain, while women respond using another. Men tend to experience higher cortisol levels as a result (cortisol can lead to weight gain and other health issues), while women tend to experience mood swings, anxiety, and even depression. Neither of these outcomes is preferable. Therefore, it is in men and women’s best interests to find natural ways to manage the inevitable stress of everyday life. Supplements to Help Relieve Stress:
Help is on the way. The following are some of the best natural alternatives to relieve stress:
Phenibut: Phenibut is a derivative of a powerful brain chemical known as GABA. The changes made to GABA actually help this supplement to cross over the blood-brain barrier and become even more effective. The GABA is considered the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter within the human body. It works by slowing down all of those active nerves and neurons. This slowing leads to relaxation and a big reduction in stress and anxiety levels.
Galantamine: Galantamine is another supplement that effectively aids in relaxation, promotes improved sleep, and helps to relieve stress and anxiety. Galantamine works by helping to increase the levels and production of Acetylcholine, a powerful brain neurotransmitter that is responsible for a number of mental processes and functions.
N-Aectyl-L-Tyrosine: Also known as NALT, this supplement works by helping to synthesize Dopamine. Through a series of fairly complex chemical processes and derivations, it also is used to synthesize Norepinephrine, a second neurotransmitter. Both of these functions are incredibly effective in helping the body to relax and relieve stress and anxiety.
